The August 2009 Mynah Bird is out!

August 2009

Aloha,

Hope you are enjoying the newest Mynah Bird which is now up on the website. I personally found the photos of the First Six Steps in Bill’s handwriting and the early version of “How it Works” to be very inspiring. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for Alcoholics Anonymous and so very honored to be a part of insuring it’s here for generations to come.

The next Mynah Bird will be coming out for the October 10. Some ideas for your submissions are:

  1. Reflections on this past year in your new service position – what have you learned? what have you experienced? What’s the impact on the quality of your sobriety been?
  2. What was your experience at your very first AA meeting?
  3. Anything to do with AA & your recovery – stories, poems, drawings.

We also have a new section called “Heard in a Meeting.” Check it out in the current issue and if you hear something inspiring in a meeting, jot it down and send it to me. “Rule 62” page is a great place for jokes and other light hearted things.

Mahalo for allowing me to serve.

Mynah Bird call for articles!

The next Mynah Bird issue will be coming out for the Budget Assembly, August 22 – 23. The deadline for submission of articles is Monday, August 17. This issue will feature our Founders, archives and histories. So, how about writing up your experiences from Founders’ Day?

Other ideas that came up at the June Committee Meeting were:

  • What have you accomplished in your group, District, committee, position etc in the past quarter?
  • What problems or issues are you facing or have you already dealt with in your group, District, committee, position, etc?
  • What are some of the goals you hope to achieve or begin work on in the next quarter?
  • Articles on:

    • Where is our 7th Tradition going?
    • What does District do? What is the purpose of our District meetings?
    • What does Area do? What is the purpose of our Area Assemblies?

I’ve started writing down “pearls of wisdom” I’ve heard in meetings and would like to start a section entitled, “Heard in a meeting…” My favorite is “Bless them, change me.” Send me some of yours and you can say “I’ve been published!”

As always, everyone’s input is welcome and encouraged. If you would like me to correct punctuation and spelling, just let me know. I’d be happy to.
