Greetings All:
As we approach our Orientation Assembly January 24-25 on Kauai, I am getting prepared for our discussion regarding the Trustees Committee on Finance & Budget request for input.
I have extensive background information, of which I will be bringing only 20 hard copies. I have the background info in a pdf format and have emailed it out twice now. Please review prior to the Assembly if possible, and if you can bring a hard copy, that would be great!
A reminder that this will not be going back to the groups for input, it was sent out back in November for that purpose, and we rapidly approach the January 30th deadline for a summary of discussion to be sent to GSO.
Please call me if you have any questions, or individual input. See you next weekend!
Of Love & Service,
Elizabeth M.

General.
With the beginning of Panel 59 we are, as you might expect, going through a lot of changes – as happens every two years. This is compounded by the fact that we have switched our email system from the old domain, hawaii-aa.org, to our new one, area17aa.org.
Most affected are those of use who will be using the new email addresses in our service positions: Area Officers, DCMS, and Standing Committee Chairs. Currently only these servants have @area17aa.org email addresses. GSRS and others need not worry about using the system other than to make sure they send email to the correct, new addresses (@area17aa.org) when sending email.
While we have been able to set up our Area Officers and a few others on the new system, for the most part setup and training will occur at the Orientation Assembly. While I’d be happy to get you started before that time if you contact me, I will be presenting material at the assembly and be available for hands on help if you require it.
I look forward to working with everyone at the assembly and until then…Aloha!

Aloha All,
I am passing along some background information to facilitate our discussion at the January Orientation Assembly regarding the Trustees Committee on Finance & Budget request for input on
benefits and liabilities, both spiritual and practical, of fully funding GSO Services to the Fellowship (GSO Functional expenses) by the voluntary contributions of AA members and Groups
I originally sent this request for discussion out back in November, (my original memo is also attached), and it has been up on the web site since then as well. At that time I did not have the background information.
My apologies for the short time frame, and I realize that many will be unable to share this with their groups. Please just do your best, and bring your ideas, thoughts and experience on this subject to the Orientation Assembly.
Hopefully we will be able to hold a lively, loving discussion at the Assembly, so I can a forward summary of the results to GSO by the January 30, 2009 deadline.
Please call or email me with any questions.
See you on Kauai!
Of Love and Service,
Elizabeth M.

Aloha Panel 59,
Happy New Year, and welcome to Panel 59 Officers, Standing Committee Chairs, Intergroup Chairs, DCMs and GSRs.
I am truly blessed and excited to serve Hawaii Area 17 as your Panel 59 Delegate. It is truly an unbelievable honor and privilege to serve Alcoholic Anonymous in this position. I will never give enough to the program that saved my life, and in fact gave me a brand new life.
I look forward to our Orientation Assembly on Kauai on January 24 – 25, 2009 where I will give a full report to you, believe me, I have been busy already!
Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions.
Love in Service,
Elizabeth M.
Panel 59 Delegate
As Panel 59 commences, I want to extend a heart-felt welcome to all GSR’s, both new, returning, and/or continuing. I am hoping that each of you attends the Orientation Assembly on Kauai on January 24 and 25. (Registration forms are available on our Area 17 Website.)
Please bring your curiosity and passion for service with you. Also bring the 2009 Structures & Guidelines and the GSR Handbook, which are available on our Area 17 Website or from your DCM. Hopefully by the end of the Assembly you will have a greater understanding of your responsibilities. We will be reviewing the above documents and other literature that will aid you in representing your group and in communicating your group conscience to the Assembly.
Get in the habit of checking the Area 17 Website often for information, reports, and area events. I encourage each of you to ask questions regarding your service position and area service in general whenever you feel the need. You will be hearing a lot about our service structure and support system available to you. You do not stay sober alone, and you are not in service alone!
In love & service,
Linda McD
