Delegate's Report and Requests

Aloha Everyone,

It was a beautiful Area Committee Meeting today, full of communication, high
energy, love & dedication to AA. Thank you all for your service.

As promised, here is a short bulleted list of action items I am requesting,
sorted by deadline for your effective participation.

[Note: Only the items that can be published on the web have been included in this announcement - request others documents have been emailed.]

  1. October 2009 Delegate's Committee Meeting Report
  2. Due by 1/12/10 – Conference Committee on Finance Self-Support Questions
Please ask GSRs to get input from their groups
  3. Due 3/27/10 at the Inform the Delegate Assembly – Corrections Survey.
Please ask GSRs to get input from their groups
  4. Due 3/27/10 at the Inform the Delegate Assembly – Theme for the 2010 GSC / Presentation /Workshop Topics
Please ask GSRs to have discussions with their groups, or maybe better have
a discussion at the district level.

I would like to stress that all of these are optional, nothing is mandatory.
This is a excellent way for Hawaii Areas 17′s collective conscience to be
heard at Conference. We can have as little or as much participation as the
DCMs and GSRs and Groups decide. I simply ask that you make this information
available and decide amongst your district / group how active, informed and
involved you want to be.

Of Love & Service,
Elizabeth M.

59th General Service Conference Report Backs for Hawaii Area 17

“Our Commitment to Carry A.A.’s Message –
Enthusiasm and Gratitude in Action”

59th General Service Conference Report Backs for Hawaii Area 17

After attending the 59th general Service Conference in New York City, it is then the Delegate’s responsibility to bring a report back to each and every district in Hawaii Area.

I returned back to Hawaii on May 9th after a small vacation following the Conference.

My first Report Back was hosted by District 6 on the island of Kaua’i on May 23, 2009. I flew in late Saturday morning, and the DCM Jim D. picked me up at the airport. We drove out to Kapa’a Neighborhood Center, where food, fellowship, and TAHITIAN dancing awaited me! I had a most enjoyable time visiting with Kaua’i District members, enjoying the ocean, and last but certainly not least giving my report. My apologies to those in attendance for losing my place a couple times, I have since added page numbers to my report! As this was my first time reporting, it was a bit long, nearly two hours. Thank you so much for listening! Excellent questions, good feedback and interested members made this truly a day to remember.

My next report was on the beautiful Big Island on June 13th and 14th, where I attended first West Hawaii’s Founder Day and the next day East Hawaii / Puna’s Founder Day. Saturday, June 13th I arrived at the Kona airport just in time to make it to Hapuna Beach Park before the festivities began. A clear blue sky, beautiful ocean, food, fellowship and even a game of AA Jeopardy were included in the celebrations. As I gave my report, I thought to myself how fortunate to serve such a diverse and yet unified fellowship here in Hawaii Area! I truly feel the love!

That night, my hostess from Hilo drove us through Waimea, and on down the Hamakua Coast to Hilo side. Sunday morning we head out to Carlsmith Park in Hilo for another fun, food and fellowship filled day. We had meetings, an Archives and Cooperation with the Elder Community displays and a lively report on the general Service Conference. Friends new and old sparked thoughtful discussion and much aloha in one on one conversations.

I was blessed with the presence of both our Hawaii Area Chair and Webmaster at both Big Island events. I was very grateful and happy to have my husband along for the weekend, who rarely gets to travel with me to functions.

Some of the exciting news from the conference we talked about at the reports included:
•Did the request for a second volume of Daily Reflections get approved?

•What happened to the request for literature on spirituality/atheist/agnostic?

•Are we going to have a procedure to file a minority appeal with the GSC?

•Is the pamphlet “It Sure Beats Sitting in a Cell” going to be updated?

•Where is the 2010 Conference going to be held?

•Will the General Service Conference be taking an inventory if itself soon?

•How did Elizabeth like New York City!?!? ( I know you all are really wondering about this)

If you haven’t yet attended a Report Back, please choose from one of the following events – coming soon to a district near you.

June 20, 2009 – St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Honolulu (Oahu) – Area Committee Meeting

June 27, 2009 – Wailuku Union Church, Wailuku (Maui) – No Ka Oi, Tri-Island and Kihei Districts

June 28, 2009 – Kaiaka Bay Beach, Haleiwa (Oahu) – Central North Shore District

July 7, 2009 – 6 pm – St. Peter and Paul Church, Honolulu (Oahu) – Waikiki District (Regular District Meeting)

July 18, 2009 – Oahu Vets Center, Honolulu (Oahu) – Diamond Head & Leeward

July 30, 2009, 7 pm – St. Christopher’s Church, Kailua (Oahu) – Windward District (Regular District Meeting)

Hope to see some of you soon, as we trudge this road of happy destiny.

Thank you for the incredible honor and privilege to serve you as your Panel 59, Hawaii Area 17 Delegate.

    Delegate: Background Info

    Greetings All:
As we approach our Orientation Assembly January 24-25 on Kauai, I am getting prepared for our discussion regarding the Trustees Committee on Finance & Budget request for input.

I have extensive background information, of which I will be bringing only 20 hard copies. I have the background info in a pdf format and have emailed it out twice now. Please review prior to the Assembly if possible, and if you can bring a hard copy, that would be great!

A reminder that this will not be going back to the groups for input, it was sent out back in November for that purpose, and we rapidly approach the January 30th deadline for a summary of discussion to be sent to GSO.

Please call me if you have any questions, or individual input. See you next weekend!

    Of Love & Service,
    Elizabeth M.
