Welcome back to all of those who attended the International Convention. I was lucky enough to be able to go and came back with some incredible experiences that I am planning to share with everyone in the next Mynah Bird. I hope all of you who attended will jot down a bit about your experience. Even if it’s only 5 or 6 words on your impressions, how you felt, what you heard. Do it now before you forget – you don’t have to wait till the deadline which, by the way, is Sunday, August 8. It would be great to have lots of quotes from the convention for our “Heard in a Meeting” page.
For those of you who didn’t get a chance to go, here’s a couple of ideas:
- “When the light went on”
- “My first AA meeting”
- “How being in service has enhanced your sobriety.”
- Quotes for “Rule 62” and “Heard in a Meeting”
Also, announcements for upcoming or recurring AA events in your District.

Aloha all,
We had a productive Mynah Bird roundtable at the Inventory Assembly and talked about the current Mynah Bird. We decided we like the cover word search puzzles and the new ‘Heard in a Meeting’ and ‘Rule 62′ pages. We also felt the Mynah Bird would benefit from submissions from more people. In our brainstorming session, we came up with a number of topics for future issues. For the next issue, which will come out for the February Committee Meeting, we’d like to suggest one of the following:
- “When the light came on” or “I came to believe”
- “Reflections on last year’s service experience.”
- “My first AA meeting”
- And as always quotes, etc for “Heard in a Meeting,” and “Rule 62.”
The deadline for the next Mynah Bird is February 14.
Mahalo for letting me serve.

Aloha everyone,
Since I’ve only received a couple of things for the Mynah Bird and the deadline is here, I’ve extended it till Tuesday morning. So, please check the previous reminder and email for ideas and send me something, please.
I neglected to include our Alternate Delegate’s year end summary in the last Mynah Bird. Check out the corrected version up on the web now. My apologies to Linda.
Mahalo for letting me be of service.

August 2009
Aloha,
Hope you are enjoying the newest Mynah Bird which is now up on the website. I personally found the photos of the First Six Steps in Bill’s handwriting and the early version of “How it Works” to be very inspiring. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for Alcoholics Anonymous and so very honored to be a part of insuring it’s here for generations to come.
The next Mynah Bird will be coming out for the October 10. Some ideas for your submissions are:
- Reflections on this past year in your new service position – what have you learned? what have you experienced? What’s the impact on the quality of your sobriety been?
- What was your experience at your very first AA meeting?
- Anything to do with AA & your recovery – stories, poems, drawings.
We also have a new section called “Heard in a Meeting.” Check it out in the current issue and if you hear something inspiring in a meeting, jot it down and send it to me. “Rule 62” page is a great place for jokes and other light hearted things.
Mahalo for allowing me to serve.
